Creating a dropbox account
Creating a dropbox account
This lesson assists you to open a dropbox account which will then be our storage centre or parking lot for our files used in case management from home. You will now use the recently opened gmail address to open the drop box account. Simply follow the camtasia video below to undertake this process or click the creating a dropbox account link. I find it useful to keep the dropbox icon on my bottom toolbar of my computer for ease of use. I also have the dropbox in my file manager which helps me to either copy and paste or drag and drop the files as I need to. The drop box is free-for 5 GB (2013) however if your usage increases you can buy space at 50GB for approximately $9.99 US a month. 5GB is enough however if you fill this with large video files you may need more later. Up to date costing can be found by googling dropbox.

Watch this video to find out how to create a Gmail account. You can use any email account that you already have however this may help you if you dont have an account or want to create a new account just for Case Management from Home.
If you have never opened an account this video is definitely going to help you.
Why open a gmail account?
Google is the largest search engine and this email account is will enable you to also have access to other services they offer with ease. Our main reason is you will need a separate gmail account to open a drop box or a parking lot to store the documents. We want a separate dropbox that is only used for case management from home files.
In our training lessons we have created a pretend client and family to help you through the process.
Our 6 year old Penny Button (D.O.B.: 2/2/2007) and her family will be featured to help you step by step create your own account, documents and files to use with your own family. Her mother, Penny Button (D.O.B.: 1/1/1971), will be the person who registers the account as a gmail account needs to be opened by an adult. Throughout the program I will be using various examples with typical pathways of support through the health care and education models to support organisation of documentation for individuals managing various conditions or disabilities from dyspraxia, speech and language impairment, sensory motor processing disorder, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), mental illness, dementia and autism and Asperger’s Disorder.
First you will need to decide on a user name (eg. butonfamily2013) and then a secure password (eg. zipsandbuttons).
You will need to provide a mobile and alternative email account for gmail to contact you if you forget your password. Keep your user name and password in a safe place. Click on the video below to watch the process or this opening a gmail account link if this does not work.
The next video created by gmail is additional information if required. See you to set up the drop box next.
